AD22 - San Mateo County
What are Assembly District Delegates?
Every two years, the CA Democrats elect 7 women and 7 men from each Assembly District in CA as delegates to the state party. Those who are elected will have a chance to vote for the new party chair and other leadership. The race is hotly contested and will determine how welcoming, grassroots-focused and innovative the party becomes or how beholden it will remain to big money interests.
Delegates elect Party officers, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, attend the annual convention, network with other Democrats, represent your constituency, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures.
You get 14 votes for delegates, 1 of which you must also vote for Executive Board Representative.

Bernie Delegate to 2016 DNC
I have been a lifelong Democrat and care deeply about engaging in the political process to uphold basic fair, humane values.
As a Delegate at last summer’s Democratic National Convention I was again struck by the caliber of leadership we enjoy in California. The wide range of economic and social opportunities and needs in our State are such a helpful blueprint for the country. I would be honored to work on deeper understanding and clearer communication of those fundamental social, economic, racial and environmental justice issues we try to uphold.
My long-term priorities are for:
– publicly funded elections,
– universal healthcare,
– humane civil and environmental rights, and
– equal opportunity for education and income.
I’ve led voter registration, candidate tabling, canvassing and phone banking efforts for Democrats here, in red areas of California, and in other States. I hope we can become the go-to party of choice in all the States by hearing and addressing the pain this vast income inequality has driven, and adjust our taxation to once again raise all boats with the rising economic tide, not just the top 1/10 1%.
My background includes brand management at companies like Procter & Gamble and Anheuser Busch, VP Emerging Technology at Wells Fargo Bank during the advent of the Internet and smart card technology, CEO of Health Metrics Systems focused on increasing access, quality and affordability for universal healthcare, and managing Obamacare grants for the State of CA to spread interoperability throughout the 80% rural areas to ensure equal access for quality healthcare for all, along the full care continuum.
I have two children in their 20’s who went to school in Belmont, my husband unfortunately died 10 years ago of leukemia, which got me into healthcare – and I’ve never looked back. The U.S. is the only country on the planet without universal healthcare, we rank #37 of the 37 industrialized nations on earth per WHO in terms of quality – yet cost over twice as much as the next most expensive healthcare system per capita. We’re smarter than that – it doesn’t have to be so complicated – we just need the political will – clearly pointing to the right solutions – enjoyed by most other countries already.
I would be honored to continue engaging more people in the process, and to represent our District at the State Convention.
I believe in teamwork, listening well, and driving issues to the most fair, equitable path forward, ensuring a level playing field for all. The Gates Foundation once used a summary I’ll paraphrase about their work, which says it well:
“Create the opportunity for all people to live healthy and productive lives.”
I believe we each have to do our best with purposeful, dedicated work, and that our State’s and country’s infrastructure and laws need to support our individual efforts with a fair and just system and allows us to flourish, without stepping on others’ toes.
