AD30 - Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara & Santa Cruz Counties
What are Assembly District Delegates?
Every two years, the CA Democrats elect 7 women and 7 men from each Assembly District in CA as delegates to the state party. Those who are elected will have a chance to vote for the new party chair and other leadership. The race is hotly contested and will determine how welcoming, grassroots-focused and innovative the party becomes or how beholden it will remain to big money interests.
Delegates elect Party officers, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, attend the annual convention, network with other Democrats, represent your constituency, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures.
You get 14 votes for delegates, 1 of which you must also vote for Executive Board Representative.

Community Activist (Measure J & Measure Z)
Bernie Campaign Volunteer and Organizer, Salinas
Activist, Educator, Blue Democrat
I live in Aromas and worked as a volunteer for Bernie’s campaign in San Benito County. I retired from Hewlett Packard after working there for 28 years.
I’m committed to working with others to build a brighter future for the next generation. I’ve been a volunteer community organizer for many years. I organized an environmental summer camp for underserved youth in San Juan Bautista for 6 summers. In 2015, I launched a project to bring solar energy to the city of San Juan Bautista and to my local school district. I worked as an organizer in two successful anti-fracking initiatives — Measure J in San Benito County in 2014, and Measure Z in Monterey County in 2016. On June 1, 2016, we were able to bring Bernie to Spreckels where he held a press conference to support Measure Z.
I’m interested in working with others to transform the Democratic Party so that it serves the interests of regular people, instead of corporations. Only then will the Democreatic Party be able to tackle the pressing climate and social justice issues of our times. We have little time left to make the major changes that will protect the future of the next generation. I have two sons who are 23 and 18 years old. I’m devoting my remaining years to make our planet a more hospitable place for them and for all of our children.
I would greatly appreciate your support as a delegate for ADEM District 30. Thank you!
I have been an educator the past 8 years in South Korea and the United States. In South Korea, I had the good fortune to have a single-payer health care plan. This was just one reason that led myself to become an enthusiastic supporter of the Bernie Sanders for President campaign.
As a volunteer for Bernie in Salinas, I began to organize events for the Sanders campaign. I organized phone banks, canvassing, and volunteer recruitment events that reached thousands of homes here in Salinas. I was given the honor of speaking at two major events in support of Bernie Sanders in the Monterey Bay. I was a speaker in an event for Bernie at Seaside High School that featured Ben Jealous, and I also spoke at the Bernie Sanders rally at Colton Hall in Monterey. I had the incredible joy of being one of the organizers and volunteers for the Bernie Sanders press conference in support of Measure Z, that was held across the street from the junior high school I attended in Spreckels.
My goal if elected as District Delegate is to continue to speak up for so many that are not heard by our Party. I want to be a strong voice at the convention, joining many other Berniecrats at the state convention, to turn the Democratic Party in a more Progressive direction. I want the party to be led from the grassroots, because it is the voice and enthusiasm of those volunteers that wins elections and helps to bring about the change we want and need. I would be honored to have your support as a District Delegate for the 30th Assembly District.
I am a native of Salinas, California, a lifelong democrat, and blue movement supporter. I hold a PhD in Organizational Systems and understand how systems, such as the economic, educational, and political systems are interconnected. I serve as an Executive Board member of my local Teacher’s Union and a grass roots activist. I am passionate about protecting the rights of the voters, fighting for social and environmental justice, and empowering the voice of our under represented individuals. I very much would appreciate the honor of representing my community and prepared to join like minded individuals to ensure that the current federal political administration does not deny my community’s citizens of their dignity. Please vote for me on January 7, 2017.
